Malaria Hackfest: Predict, Plan & Prevent

Got an idea to address the pressing issues related to Malaria?

TiE Delhi – NCR in association with Prayatna powered by Reckitt invites all the top tech schools in India to address the concerns of malaria through an integrated IT-enabled innovation-based Hackathon for an award up to INR 5 lakhs.

Objective:

Seeking prototypes that address gaps in real time surveillance, vector and disease heat mapping, and forecasting malaria outbreaks through integrated technology innovations.

Problem Statement:

Malaria elimination is part of the Sustainable Development Goals and a disease of India’s national priority. The need for concerted multi-sectoral efforts towards addressing the concerns of malaria is very evident and critical. The major areas of concern for malaria that requires improvement through IT-enabled innovation in India are as follows:

  • 1) Real time surveillance systems focused on pattern of mosquito infestations with defined patterns of malaria outbreak and hotspots factoring in climate change, extreme temperatures, rainfall, flora and fauna for policy makers, healthcare workforce, and programme implementors to make informed data driven decisions.
  • 2) Forecasting of increased mosquito infestations and malaria outbreak factoring in climate change, extreme temperatures, rainfall, flora and fauna viz., AQI, AccuWeather, targeted at for all users from academia, policy makers, programme implementation and general population.
  • 3) Gradient Heat mapping of the hotspot areas of mosquito breeding sites and malarial outbreaks targeted at policy makers, healthcare workforce, and programme implementors.
  • 4) Scalable model encompassing of (1-3) from grass root level to national level.

Seeking prototypes that address gaps in real time surveillance, vector and disease heat mapping, and forecasting malaria outbreaks through integrated technology innovations.
